How to replace the battery in your Mazda key fob

Supplies You Will Need
- A replacement CR2025 battery (older models) or CR2032 battery (newer models)
- Your Mazda key fob
- A small flathead screwdriver or plastic pry-tool
How to Open Your Mazda Key Fob
No matter what Mazda model you drive, learning how to change the battery in a Mazda key fob starts with opening the fob casing to reveal the battery. Follow these steps:
- Press the auxiliary key button on the back of your key fob. This will release the emergency key, which you can now pull out from the bottom of the fob.
- With the emergency key removed, you’ll see a slot on either side of the fob casing.
- Gently pry open the two halves of the casing with the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.
- Set aside the fob casing where you won’t lose it.
How to Change the Battery in a Mazda Key Fob

- Remove the battery cap, and set it aside with the key fob casing.
- At this point, you should have a clear view of the key fob battery. Making sure not to damage the small rubber ring underneath, remove it carefully.
